LOFF

The League of Ontario Foster Families came together approximately fsixteen years ago. It was a grassroots sort of beginning. Representatives from four different Foster Parent Associations got together for mutual support. The idea was that foster families knew other foster families best.

We can help each other with understanding and encouraging children and youth in care. Furthermore, through interaction with the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies and the Ministry of Children, Community, and Social Services, our members have been kept current with trends in Child Welfare and have been included in the development of training that can augment those that their home agency provides. Furthermore, we have been kept apprised of data collection and studies that inform the important work that we do in providing places of safety and in caring for society’s children in need.

We have grown, from that ‘four group’ beginning to representing twelve Foster Family Associations across Ontario. We are pleased to represent these Associations and we are committed to serving our organization with up-to-date training, networking opportunities, and collaboration with many Provincial organizations that seek to gain the best outcomes for youth who are in or have been in care. They say ‘It takes a village.”, but we know that we have a whole province to help with raising our children.

We are proud to be the League of Ontario Foster Families.
